All-Time Series: Texas and West Virginia have met four times overall with the Mountaineers leading the series, 3-1. Free Kicks:
- Texas junior forward Chantale Campbell likely could get used to playing in the Big 12 Championship. The London, Ontario, Canada, native has totaled two goals, an assist and scored a PK during a decisive shootout victory over four career matches in the league's annual showdown. She dished an assist in a 3-0 rout of Oklahoma in 2012, scored Texas' lone goal in a 2-1 defeat to Oklahoma State in 2013 and both scored a goal and put home a PK in advancing past #16 Texas Tech in the 2014 quarterfinals. At Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo., she has scored a goal in each of her two matches at the facility against OSU (2013) and TTU (2014). She currently ranks in a tie for fourth in most Big 12 Championship points (five) in Texas program history.
- The Longhorns own a 3-5-2 all-time record in Big 12 Championship semifinals with 10 previous appearances in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 & 2012. In its last visit to the semifinal round in 2012, UT tied TCU 1-1 (2OT) but lost in a PK shootout, 4-2.
- The opposing netminder in Friday's match against West Virginia will look very familiar to Texas head coach Angela Kelly as WVU's Hannah Steadman was a freshman goalkeeper (received no playing time) on Kelly's final roster at Tennessee back in 2011.
- People at Friday's Big 12 Championship semifinal match will likely see a lot of shots as West Virginia and Texas are currently rated as the top two teams in the conference in that category. WVU has 406 for a 21.4 per-game average, while UT has 342 for a 17.1 per-game average. In the two teams' meeting back on Sept. 28, the Mountaineers managed a 17-11 edge.
- Texas had three players named to the various All-Big 12 teams prior to the start of the Big 12 Championship. Junior goalkeeper Abby Smith was tabbed to the first team, her third consecutive Big 12 accolade after second team nods in 2012 & 2013. Senior midfielder Sharis Lachappelle followed up two previous selections (2012 - 2nd; 2013 - 1st) with another second team inclusion, while freshman forward Olivia Brook was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. Texas has boasted at least three players on the all-league teams in each of the last five seasons and for 13 of the last 14 years.
- So far this year, Texas is an impressive 10-2-2 in matches where it scores at least one goal, including five one-goal victories (at Hawaii - 2-1; vs. #6 Texas Tech - 1-0 OT; at Iowa State - 1-0; at Oklahoma - 1-0; at Baylor - 2-1). The only blemishes out of those 12 occurrences were a 2-2 tie against Arizona State (Aug. 22), a 3-1 loss at TCU (Oct. 17), a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma State (Oct. 31) and the 1-1 tie against #16 Texas Tech on Nov. 5.
- The Longhorn program holds an 87-41-16 all-time record against members of the Big 12 Conference and is 14-10-2 against league foes since Angela Kelly took over as head coach.
