Dec. 29, 2014
Advocare V100 Texas Bowl • NRG Stadium
TEAM NOTES
• Series: Texas and Arkansas, which played 60 straight times as Southwest Conference foes before the Razorbacks left for the SEC following the 1991 season, have met 78 times dating back to 1894. The Longhorns hold a 56-22 advantage. The Razorbacks have won both meetings in bowl games (2000 Cotton Bowl).
• Bowl History: The Longhorns rank second all-time on the NCAA appearance list with 53, trailing only Alabama (61). UT, which now has an all-time record of 27-24-2, has appeared in a bowl game in 19 of the last 21 years.
• Playing at NRG: Tonight's game marked the fifth appearance for the Horns at NRG Stadium and they are now 4-1. They defeated Rice three times (34-17 in 2010; 52-7 in 2006; 48-7 in 2003) and Colorado, 70-3, in the 2005 Big 12 Championship game.
• First Career Action: A number of players saw their first career action in the game. DB Cody Boswell, DB Brandon Allen, WR Chris Giron, RB Eddie Aboussie and WR David Thomann, all walk-on seniors, played on the opening kickoff. Senior DB Devin Huffines also played on the opening kickoff, though he saw his first career action earlier this year vs. Texas Tech.
• Defensive Starters: The defensive starting lineup had two adjustments. DE Shiro Davis made his first start (fourth of the season) since the UCLA game and the Longhorns opened with three linebackers for just the second time this year. Peter Jinkens was in the starting lineup for the first time since the season opener vs. North Texas.
• Offensive Starters: The offense had two new starters. Jake Raulerson made the start at right tackle and Daje Johnson was one of three wide receivers on the field for the opening play. Raulerson started four games at center earlier this year. It was Johnson's first start since the 2013 Baylor game.
• Captains: RB Malcolm Brown, WR John Harris, CB Quandre Diggs and LB Jordan Hicks, who were recently named team captains for the season, served as game captains.
• Injury Report: DE Caleb Bluiett (knee) did not play. DB Devin Huffines (knee) was injured on the opening kickoff and did not return.
