Turner posts team-high 18 points while hitting 4-of-4 from three-point range.
STILLWATER, Okla. – Myles Turner led Texas scorers with 18 points, while Demarcus Holland chipped in a season-high 12 points and Isaiah Taylor added 11, but the No. 10/10 Longhorns fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 69-58, at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Turner finished with five blocks and six rebounds and made a career-high 4-of-4 from deep. In the first half alone, the freshman forward had 11 points, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Cameron Ridley grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds, while Javan Felix finished with eight points.
Texas (12-4, 1-2 Big 12) tied a school record for most blocked shots in a Big 12 Conference game with 12, including five from Turner and a career-high four blocks from Jonathan Holmes, but could not overcome Oklahoma State's .473 field goal percentage.
The Cowboys (12-3, 2-1 Big 12) had a hot second half, shooting 53.8 percent from the field, including 6-of-9 from deep. Texas finished with a .344 field goal percentage.
Although Texas recorded a .290 shooting percentage in the first half, the game was tied at the break, 28-28. In the first half, Texas recorded seven blocks and out-rebounded the Cowboys, 24-16, including 12 on the offensive glass compared to only 11 defensive rebounds from Oklahoma State. The half saw six ties and three lead changes and neither team led by more than six.
Phil Forte and Le'Bryan Nash led the Cowboys with 20 points apiece. Forte was 4-of-6 from long range.
Texas returns to Austin to play host to No. 14/14 West Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 17. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
