AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Longhorns open their indoor track and field season this week with a Top 10 battle against the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road. Arkansas will host the Arkansas-Texas Dual Meet on Friday night with the Longhorns and Razorbacks set to face each other in 16 events.
Both men's and women's teams are ranked in the top 10 of the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings. Texas enters with the women at No. 5 and the men at No. 8. Arkansas' women are No. 7 with the Razorback men ranked No. 3.
The bulk of the action is set to start at 6 p.m. Friday from the Randal Tyson Track Center. The men's and women's weight throw will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Last season, Arkansas won this meet on both sides. This year the Longhorns will be looking to open its season on a positive note and claiming a pair of team wins.
The meet will be scored with points awarded to the top four finishers in the individual events with five points going to the winner. Only two individuals per team may score points in an event. Winning relay teams will receive five points with three to the runner-up. Only one relay may score per team as well.

400m Depth
• The women's team boasts three returning first team All-Americans in the 400m
• Ashley Spencer leads the group as the No. 2-ranked runner and time of 51.54.
• Courtney Okolo is ranked 3rd in the event with an indoor best of 51.56.
• Kendall Baisden is No. 7 according to USTFCCCA after finishing 5th last year.
• Spencer and Okolo represent the last three NCAA outdoor titles in the 400m.
Preseason Expectations
• Texas is among the best of the best heading into the 2015 season. Five teams have their men's and women's teams ranked in the Top 10 of the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings.
• The Big 12 Conference is well represented in the Top 25 with four men's teams and four women's teams ranked in the preseason.

• 3-time NCAA champion Ryan Crouser is on the men's preseason watch list.
• NCAA indoor champ and NCAA record holder Kaitlin Petrillose is on the women's list.
Golden Kendall
• Sophomore Kendall Baisden won two gold medals this summer at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships. She won the 400m and ran a leg of the victorious 4x400m relay for Team USA.

• Texas currently holds nine collegiate records combined among the men and women. The nearest competitor is Arizona and Colorado with five.
