LAS VEGAS – Texas Women's Golf finished the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in seventh place after shooting a third-round 277 on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Longhorns shot 11-under par during the third round to finish 25-under par on the week. The 277 ties the lowest round in Texas Women's Golf history, while the Longhorns' 839 54-hole total is the lowest round in Texas Women's Golf history.
Sophomore Sophia Schubert led the Longhorns with a 13-under 203. Schubert shot a third-round 66 to follow a first-round 69 and second-round 68.
She made six birdies on the round for the lowest round of any player this season. Her 66 was the second-lowest of any Texas player all-time.
Junior Haley Mills also finished under par for the day with a 69 to finish in a tie for 45th with senior Tezira Abe.
Mills did not make a bogey in her last 36 holes.

UNLV and Vanderbilt tied for first place at 33-under par, while Tennessee's Anna Newell earned medalist awards at 18-under par.
The Longhorns will begin their spring season on February 27 with the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
Post-Tournament Comments
Head Coach Ryan Murphy
On the tournament: 25-under on the week is pretty good! It was definitely a sprint in Las Vegas as opposed to a marathon! This was a tournament where you had to shift gears mentally to just keep making birdies…it's the first time we have experienced that this year. Overall, I was happy with the effort the team put forth, we just didn't get off to that fast start that we needed. Shooting -11 today was certainly a nice way to finish the semester.
On Schubert's finish: Individually, Sophia's tournament was terrific. Three rounds in the 60s with a final-round 66 is simply outstanding. She hit the ball great all week and got a few putts to fall in rounds two and three. Her semester just kept getting better and better and I do not expect her to slow down. Sophia is a special player with lofty goals!
On Mills' play: Haley played her final 36 holes without a bogey—that's incredible. I can't remember ever seeing that in college golf. Her final round 69 was a big round for us today.
On Beck's play: Additionally, we had two under-par rounds each from Tez, Maddie and Julia Beck. That's good stuff. JB was 4-over through two holes in round one and came back to shoot 70, having made six birdies—that's just really strong mentally to be able to do that.
On Luitwieler and Abe's play: Two 70s from Tez to start the tournament kept us in good shape in the golf tournament. And Maddie's two 71s helped us several shots as well.
On the fall season: All in all, it was a good team effort. This team will continue to improve and will be competing for championships in the spring.
