Heard, Swoopes talk about offense
Assistant Coach Jay Norvell (video)
QB, Jerrod Heard, Freshman
On win against Kansas and next game against West Virginia: It was good, but we have to move on. On Sunday we didn't even do a lot of corrections we just got straight into West Virginia, and right now we are focused on that.
On performance of offense: We can move the ball where we want to and when we want to. When I say that, I mean we can move it in the air or on the ground, and it's a good feeling to have those two options.
On progress of team: It's a lot of up and down fights. That is what's making us tough right now. The up and down battles and the things we have to overcome. It doesn't matter about the loss or who you are playing. The feeling is always bad when you lose. We just have to fight and find ourselves and keep fighting.
On D'Onta Foreman: I always knew his speed. When I first got here, I felt like I could beat him in a run, but his speed is very deceiving. He has a quick twitch, and he is quick to the outside. He can run you over, and then he can beat you to the corner. His speed is unreal for a guy his size and we just enjoy watching him run.
QB, Tyrone Swoopes, Junior
On advising Jerrod Heard: I feel like I went through a lot last year, and there wasn't an older guy like myself to talk to and keep me motivated. I am trying to give him what I would have liked to have last year.
On new role with team: Last year was a transition year so everyone was getting to know each other. This year everyone is comfortable with everybody and it's fun. It's a fun role to be in. Being able to get the ball and run it a couple of yards and make everyone excited. It gets me excited as well.
On progress of Jerrod Heard: He is a young guy so he still has things to learn. Overall, I think he has done really well with it. He's had some good games and some not good games but that happens with anyone playing quarterback. Overall, he has done a great job.
On amount of freshmen playing with starting team: I think it's a really good thing because most guys don't get that opportunity as a true freshman to go out there and play. In the years to come they will be experienced and almost anything that comes at them they won't be surprised by it, so I think it's really good they are getting experience now.
