No. 5 Volleyball sweeps Iowa State in Ames

Senior Amy Neal has led the Longhorns in kills in 19 matches this season.
AMES, Iowa – No. 5 Texas Volleyball defeated Iowa State, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-21) in Ames, Iowa on Saturday night to improve to 22-2 on the season and 12-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
Senior Amy Neal and junior Chiaka Ogbogu led the Longhorns in kills with 12 and 11, respectively.
Neal has led UT in kills in 19 matches this season.
Ogbogu teamed up with senior Molly McCage to lead Texas in blocks with five each, while junior Chloe Collins recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 31 assists and 10 digs.
Sophomore Cat McCoy also finished in double-digit digs with 16.
As a team, Texas had 10.0 blocks to Iowa State's 5.5 and hit .272 to the Cyclones' .083.
UT and ISU tied seven times early in the first set before the Longhorns went on a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. The Cylcones answered with back-to-back points, but UT won four of the next five points to stretch ISU's deficit to five and maintained the lead to take the set, 25-19. Neal had six kills in the set, while McCoy had four digs and McCage, Ogbogu and Collins all had two blocks. The Longhorns hit .407 and limited the Cylcones to .065.
The second set was similar to the first as Texas and Iowa State tied seven times to start the set before the Longhorns executed a 4-1 run to pull ahead, 14-10. ISU posted a 3-0 run of its own, but a McCage block gave UT the advantage and the Cyclones did not lead the rest of the way. Texas closed the set on a 7-2 run to win it 25-18 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, Iowa State jumped out to a 4-0 lead before a kill by Bedart-Ghani fired off a 5-0 run to give the Longhorns a 5-4 lead. From there, UT maintained the lead, but never by more than three and the Cyclones tied it at 16. The score tied at 17 and again at 20, but Texas closed out on a 5-1 run to take the set 25-21 and the match, 3-0.
Texas will return to Gregory Gym to host Baylor on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. The match will be televised live on Longhorn Network.
