Four Men's Golfers earn All-America honors

Scheffler, Hall and Ghim join Hossler on the list of All-Americans.
AUSTIN, Texas – Four Texas Men's Golfers earned PING All-America Team honors, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Thursday.
Freshman Scottie Scheffler earned second team honors, while sophomore Gavin Hall and freshman Doug Ghim landed on the honorable mention team. Sophomore Beau Hossler was named to the first team, which the GCAA announced on June 3.
"I am thrilled that four players have been honored as collegiate All-Americans in the sport of golf," Head Coach John Fields said. "Each one of them have had incredible moments for the 2014-15 season."
The Longhorns occupied four of the 30 spots on all four of the All-America teams. No other school had more than three players on the list.
In Texas Men's Golf history, no more than four players have ever been named All-Americans in a single season. Four players were named All-Americans in one season at Texas three other times: 1991, 1993 and 1995.
Hossler, Scheffler, Ghim and Hall join a rich tradition of All-Americans at Texas. Hossler is the 13th player to earn first team honors in 20 awards.
Hossler did not finish outside the top-20 in 12 tournaments, was named Big 12 Player of the Year and was elected as a member of the Palmer Cup Team.
Scheffler, who was named GCAA Freshman of the Year, is the ninth player to earn the honor in 11 awards. He posted back-to-back medalist honors and earned five more top-10 finishes over the season.
Hall posted top-10 individual finishes in six events, including a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship and third-place finishes at the U.S. Collegiate Championship and the NCAA Regional.
Ghim finished the season strong after recording a team-best tie for eighth at the NCAA Championships. He appeared in 12 events during the season with a 71.76 stroke average, his best finish coming at the Gifford Collegiate in a tie for third.
"Gavin Hall was so close to having an extraordinary year and was a stalwart for the team this year," Fields said. "I believe he will be even better next year. Doug Ghim continues his upward trajectory and has made himself one of the best players in the country."
