Youngquist wins gold medal at World University Games

Former Longhorn Clay Youngquist adds gold in the 800m free relay to go with his silver in the 200m freestyle.
GWANGJU, South Korea – Former Longhorn Clay Youngquist collected his second medal of the week and helped the United States to gold in the 800-meter freestyle relay Thursday on day six of the 2015 World University Games.
Youngquist (Battle Creek, Mich.) led off the Americans' 800m free relay in 1 minute, 49.03 seconds, and he joined Reed Malone, Michael Wynalda and Kyle Whitaker to win gold in 7:10.82. Australia won silver in 7:13.04 while Japan settled for bronze in 7:13.12.
Youngquist earns his second medal of the week after winning silver in the 200m freestyle on Monday. Youngquist completed his collegiate eligibility for the Longhorns last March when he helped Texas win its 11th NCAA team title.
UT rising senior Matt Ellis added a seventh-place finish in the 100m butterfly final. The Austin native clocked 52.67 for seventh in the final after qualifying eighth during the semifinal round at 52.95.
