- The Longhorns enter this weekend's action in Charleston, S.C., holding an 11-9-1 all-time record in season-opening matches. UT is 2-0-1 in lidlifters during Angela Kelly's three-year stint as head coach and christened the 2014 campaign with a 2-2 (2OT) tie versus Arizona State at the Outrigger Resorts Shootout in Honolulu, Hawai'i. This will mark only the seventh time Texas has started a season away from home as the Burnt Orange & White are 1-0-1 at neutral sites and 1-3-0 in true away contests.
- Texas begins this weekend's Charleston Nike Classic with a 7-12-0 record all-time against Atlantic Coast Conference opposition. The Longhorns have never faced Miami (FL), while against season-opening foe Clemson, UT is 1-1 all-time. Texas defeated the Tigers on the road back on Sept. 5, 2003 (1-0), while dropping a 1-0 decision to CU in a return contest in Austin on Aug. 27, 2004.
- Over the three-season tenure of head coach Angela Kelly, if Texas scores a goal, there's a pretty good chance UT will win the match. Since starting 2012, the Longhorns are 31-8-5 in contests where they tickle the twine at least once and were 11-3-2 in such situations last season.
- UT will head into its match-up against No. 22 Clemson on Friday with a 36-74-12 record all-time against ranked opponents. Under Kelly's guidance, the Horns are just 3-10-3, but have defeated at least one rated foe in each of her first three seasons on the Forty Acres. Most recently, Texas knocked off No. 6 Texas Tech on Sept. 26, 2014, in Austin, 1-0 (OT).
- The Longhorns are coming off an 11-8-4 season in 2014 that saw the squad reach the Big 12 Championship semifinals and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 (eventually falling to No. 12 Notre Dame, 2-1, in the second round at College Station, Texas). Texas lost six valuable seniors off last year's squad including three very experienced senior defenders in Brooke Gilbert, Whitney Jaynes and Julie Arnold and All-Big 12 midfielder Sharis Lachappelle.
- During head coach Angela Kelly's three seasons in charge of the Longhorns program, defense has played a big role in the squad's success. Since 2012, Texas owns a 22-5-2 mark when holding opponents to nine or fewer shots in a match. UT was 6-3 in 2012, 8-2-1 in 2013 and was unbeaten at 8-0-1 in 2014 during such instances.
- Texas owns a 10-12-1 mark in true road matches under head coach Angela Kelly but has seen a recent run of success markedly improve that total. UT is 8-3-1 in its last 12 road contests. In neutral site matches under Kelly, the Longhorns are 2-3-4 with the last loss coming in College Station, Texas, last Nov. 21st, to No. 12 Notre Dame (1-2) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
- In three seasons under coach Angela Kelly, the Longhorns have posted an 26-2-4 mark when scoring the initial goal of the contest. UT went 10-0-1 in 2013 and 9-1-2 in 2014 when registering the match's initial tally.
- Texas boasts a lot of success when the defense keeps the crooked numbers off the opponent's side of the scoreboard. Since the beginning of the 2012 campaign, the Longhorns have limited the opposition to a single goal or less in 46 of 63 possible matches. In those instances, Texas owns a 30-10-6 overall record and has gone 23-4-5 since starting the 2013 season.
