McBroom takes eighth in 800m freestyle at FINA World Championships

UT sophomore Joseph Schooling resumes competition on Friday in Kazan.
KAZAN, Russia – Texas-Ex Michael McBroom placed eighth in the 800-meter freestyle on day four of swimming Wednesday at the 2015 FINA World Championships.
Representing the United States, McBroom (The Woodlands, Texas) took eighth place overall in 7 minutes, 55.30 seconds. China's Sun Yang won gold in 7:39.96 while Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri took the silver in 7:40.81. Australia's Mack Horton won the bronze in 7:44.02.
UT sophomore Joseph Schooling resumes competition for his native Singapore on Friday at the World Championships in the 100m butterfly. Texas-Ex Clay Youngquist will represent the United States Friday in the 800m freestyle relay.
