- When did you start playing volleyball and why?
YBD: When I was 11, my dad told me I needed to play a sport. I liked volleyball a lot because I was tall (5-8) and I really liked to hit the ball.
Q. Who are you close with in your family?
YBD: I am really close with my two older brothers – Khaliq (21) and Khalil (19). They both play college sports (basketball at Yale and San Diego) and so we talk about that. But we also talk about life and they look out for me.
- What motivates you to succeed on and off the court?
YBD: I want to be successful and be able to help others.
- What part of your game have you been working hardest on since you've gotten to Texas?
YBD: my defense
- Who makes you laugh the most on the team?
YBD: There are definitely a lot of characters, but Chiaka has really funny comments that you have to be paying attention to in order to catch them and they always make me laugh.
- If you weren't a volleyball player, you would be…
YBD: I would probably be a swimmer. I used to swim growing up, but chose volleyball instead.
- What is your favorite vacation spot?
YBD: We have gone to Palm Springs as a family. There are a bunch of resorts where you can go swimming and be in the sun.
- What is the biggest difference between LA and Austin?
YBD: No beach!!
- If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, which one would it be?
YBD: I would like to be in Friends or How I Met Your Mother. But I would want to be friends with them.
- If you were an animal, which one would it be?
YBD: I would be a panda bear, because I'm lovable!
