Longhorns crack USTFCCCA Coach Poll at No. 27
AUSTIN, Texas – Following a dominant win in the season opener on September 4 and the second weekend of action nationally, the Texas women's cross country team has moved into the national rankings.
Texas comes in at No. 27 in this week's USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, which ranks the top 30 teams as 31 are selected to the NCAA Championships in the sport. This is the first time the Texas women's cross country team has been ranked in the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll since Week 4 of the 2013 season.
The Longhorn women were receiving votes in the preseason poll and are one of four Big 12 Conference teams in the rankings. Iowa State drops one spot to No. 2 after being the preseason favorite. West Virginia ranks No. 11 and Oklahoma State's women are right behind Texas at No. 28. Baylor dropped out of the rankings and is listed among the others receiving votes.
On the men's side, the Texas men are receiving votes as they were in the preseason poll as well. They are currently five spots from cracking the Top 30.
Texas returns to action for its second competition of the season when the Longhorns head to College Station on September 26 at the Texas A&M Invitational.
