Scoggin among three Longhorns inducted into Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas diving coach Matt Scoggin joined former Longhorns Whitney Hedgepeth and Jamie Rauch as new inductees into the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. The Hall hosted a reception to welcome the new inductees Friday evening at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Scoggin, who just completed his 22nd season as the head diving coach at Texas, won back-to-back NCAA titles in the one-meter diving event in 1983 and 1984. A finalist on platform for the United States at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, Scoggin went on to three additional Olympic Games as a coach, most recently in 2012.
Scoggin's divers have won 19 NCAA individual titles at Texas. Under Scoggin, the Texas women sent a pair of divers to the 2016 NCAA Championships while the Texas men qualified three who contributed significantly during the Longhorns' run to their 12th NCAA team title.
A 27-time All-American at Texas, Hedgepeth won gold in the 4x100m medley relay and silver in the 100m and 200m backstroke at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. One of the most decorated women's swimmers in school history, Hedgepeth won NCAA titles in the 200-yard backstroke in 1992 and 1994.
An 18-time All-American at Texas, Rauch helped the Texas men win NCAA team titles in 2000 and 2001. Rauch helped five Texas relays to national titles in his four years as a Longhorn. Rauch helped the United States to silver in the 4x200m freestyle relay at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
