Adams posts nine kills in Team USA’s quarterfinal victory

Texas Volleyball alum Rachael Adams and Team USA will play in the semifinal round on Thursday.
RIO DE JANEIRO – Texas Volleyball alum Rachael Adams (2008-11) and the U.S. Women's Volleyball team defeated Japan, 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday.
Adams posted nine kills on 16 swings in the match.
Team USA converted 48.5 percent of its attacks into points with a .412 hitting efficiency and held Japan to a 36.9 kill percent and .243 hitting efficiency.
The Americans are 18-2 in their last 20 Olympic Games matches, dating back to Aug. 13, 2008. The only two losses have been to Brazil in the gold-medal matches of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
The USA (6-0) will advance to the semifinals on Thursday and will face Serbia.
