- I guess it's appropriate that its "Alumni Weekend" on the Forty Acres over Sept. 16-18 as Texas will welcome back a couple of familiar faces on Friday night as two former Longhorns are now members of the Mean Green roster following transfers. UNT junior forward Katie Gernsbacher was on the roster at Texas for two seasons in 2013-14, earning time in 24 total matches (four career starts) while managing two assists. Senior midfielder Marchelle Davis played in 18 matches (seven starts) during her only season in the Burnt Orange & White in 2013, scoring two goals, game-winning scores to beat Iowa State and Oklahoma, while dishing an assist for five total points.
- Texas and North Texas have played three times over the years with the Longhorns maintaining a 2-1 series advantage. UT is a perfect 2-0 against the Mean Green in Austin, with wins in both 2000 and 2004 (most recent meeting was a 3-0 Texas win), but lost the very first match-up between the programs in Denton, Texas, back on Oct. 31, 1999, 2-1 (2OT).
- Texas and North Texas have played a common opponent this season with the Longhorns shutting out Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in exhibition play on Aug. 12, 3-0, while UNT blanked the Islanders on Aug. 26 in regular-season action, 4-0.
- Two Longhorns were named in the recent release of Top Drawer Soccer's listing of its "Top 20 Players in the Big 12 Conference." Sophomore forward Alexa Adams came in at No. 12, while injured redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores rounded out the ranking in the No. 20 slot.
- Texas is coming off a weekend split in its first road trip of the 2016 season with a 2-1 (OT) loss at No. 19 Ohio State and a 2-0 shutout of Miami (OH). Sophomore forward Alexa Adams led the offensive output with two goals, one just 3:22 into the match to give UT an early lead against the Buckeyes, and at 4:52 to serve as the match-winner during the victory over the RedHawks. The Lancaster, Texas, native leads the Longhorns with five goals this season (TIED FOR FIRST IN THE BIG 12!) and has scored a goal in five of her team's seven matches in 2016. Sophomore midfielder Katie Glenn scored her second of the season at 73:10 to seal the triumph at Miami (OH).
- Texas sophomore forward Alexa Adams has picked up this season where she left off from an All-Big 12-level rookie campaign in 2015. The Lancaster, Calif., native scored during three consecutive UT matches against College of Charleston, Detroit and Sam Houston State and enters play against North Texas having tallied in each of her last two matches. She now has registered at least one point in 11 of the Longhorns' last 14 matches dating back to Oct. 9, 2015, against Iowa State. Over that 14-match stretch, Adams has 10 goals and five assists for 25 total points on an efficient 32 shots. In fact, on her LAST 13 SHOTS ON GOAL, ADAMS HAS SCORED 10 TIMES (77% scoring efficiency!).
- Texas senior midfielder Julia Dyche is off to a very "helpful" start to the 2016 season with five assists already through just seven matches. She needs just three more to enter the Longhorns single-season top 10 list where she would tie four players for 10th. The all-time single-season assist record at Texas is 14 by Kelly Wilson established back in 2004. Dyche's five assists this season are one more than she had previously combined for over her first three seasons at UT (four assists total over her first three seasons combined). DYCHE CURRENTLY RANKS 14TH IN ALL OF NCAA DIVISION I IN TOTAL ASSISTS!
- Several Longhorns seem to ALWAYS be on the pitch. Senior defender Isabelle Kerr and freshman defender Atu Mshana have played all 635 possible minutes this season, while freshman defender Emma Jett (603) and senior midfielder Julia Dyche (596) and have been on the field for 596 or more minutes.
- Texas' defense is particularly stingy, having not allowed more than two goals in a single match since allowing three during a 3-1 loss at TCU back on Oct. 17, 2014, a stretch of 33 consecutive contests. In fact, an opponent has only scored more than two goals in a contest four times since head coach Angela Kelly took over the program (three times in her first season on the Forty Acres in 2012) and ONLY ONCE OVER THE LONGHORNS' LAST 76 MATCHES!
- Senior forward Jasmine Hart is off to a great start to the 2016 season as well, managing her fourth career contest with three or more points (goal, assist) in the 3-1 win over College of Charleston and a goal in the rout of Sam Houston State. The three-point occurrence marked the first time the Haltom City, Texas, product had registered at least three points in a single match since scoring a goal and dishing an assist in a rout of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi back on Sept. 5, 2014. She had played in 34 matches since that rout of the Islanders.
- A pair of Longhorns seem to always be penciled in the line-up as senior midfielder Julia Dyche has earned at least some playing time in Texas' last 55 matches, while senior defender Isabelle Kerr has appeared in 49 of UT's last 50 contests dating back to each player's freshman campaign in 2013.
- Over the four-plus season tenure of head coach Angela Kelly, if Texas scores a goal, there's a pretty good chance UT will win the match. Since starting 2012, the Longhorns are 43-12-6 in contests where they tickle the twine at least once and are 4-1 in such situations so far this season.
