Longhorns wrap three-match road swing Sunday at No. 19 Arkansas.
TULSA, Okla. – No. 4 Texas (3-1) collected singles wins from senior George Goldhoff and sophomores Harrison Scott and Leo Telles, but Tulsa (4-1) won the doubles point and three singles matches en route to a 4-3 victory Friday evening at TU's Michael Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa won doubles decisions at the second and third positions to lock up the doubles point and assume a 1-0 lead.
Scott evened the tally at one on the strength of his 6-3, 6-2 win over Tulsa's Okkie Kellerman at fourth singles. Texas took a 2-1 lead behind Telles' 6-0, 6-1 victory over Daniel Santos at sixth singles.
The Golden Hurricane responded at first singles where the 46th-ranked Or Ram-Harel knocked off UT's sixth-ranked freshman Christian Sigsgaard by a 7-6, 6-2 count. Texas reclaimed the lead at third singles where Goldhoff held off TU's Dominic Bechard, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Tulsa responded at second singles, as Majed Kilani rallied to a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Texas freshman Yuya Ito to even the match at three, leaving the team match outcome to be decided at fifth singles.
After dropping the first set, Texas redshirt sophomore Julian Zlobinsky pushed his match against TU's Mitchell Pritchard to a third set by way of a 6-4 second-set win. However, Pritchard picked up the one service break he needed midway through the set and held off Zlobinsky to preserve a 6-4 third-set win and lift Tulsa to the 4-3 victory.
