AUSTIN, Texas – For a combination of her impressive efforts both on the pitch and in the classroom, Texas soccer junior midfielder Katie Glenn has been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-West Region First Team according to a Wednesday release from the organization.
Glenn, who owns a 3.4 GPA in health promotion, added the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region nod to a lengthy resume of 2017 accolades that already included United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-South Region, All-Big 12 Conference First Team and Academic All-Big 12 Conference First Team honors.
With her inclusion, Glenn earned UT's 18th all-time nod to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team, became the program's sixth overall first-team recipient and received the first selection for Texas soccer since Texas-Exes Abby Smith and Sharis Lachappelle reaped second team Scholar All-Region honors back in 2014.
Glenn captained the midfield for the Longhorns this past season while rating third on the squad in goals (five) and total points (13). The Round Rock, Texas, native often delivered in the clutch for the Burnt Orange & White, tying for fourth in the league with three match-winning scores to defeat Sacramento State, No. 25 Colorado and Baylor. She was tabbed as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the initial time in her career back on Sept. 12, after scoring two goals and dishing an assist for five combined points during victories over Northeastern and the nationally-ranked Buffaloes. During her career, Glenn has now started 40 of 51 matches played and totaled eight career goals and four assists.
