Soccer announces eight additional signees in 2017 recruiting class

Texas staff signs Berg, Dobbs, Dorsett, Madden, McGee, Moudy, Strouphauer & Weidenbach to join transfer Stearns
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas head soccer coach Angela Kelly and the University of Texas soccer program announced Thursday eight signees for the 2017-18 academic school year, adding to a class that already included junior transfer Amber Stearns out of Boston College (her bio info is again included near the bottom of this release).
Freshman signees joining the program for the upcoming 2017 campaign include (Hometown/High School/Club Soccer Team): midfielder/forward Haley Berg (Celina, Texas/Celina High School/Solar Chelsea FC), goalkeeper Bailey Dobbs (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes High School/Albion Hurricanes FC), outside back Madison Dorsett (Carrollton, Texas/Prestonwood Christian Academy/Dallas Texans), goalkeeper Savannah Madden (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch High School/San Diego Surf SC & ECNL Academy), defender Peyton McGee (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield Legacy High School/Dallas Texans), outside back Erin Moudy (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands High School/Solar Chelsea FC), midfielder/forward Emily Strouphauer (Round Rock, Texas/Cedar Ridge High School/Lonestar SC) and outside back Natalie Weidenbach (North Bend, Wash./Mount Si High School/Eastside FC).
"This 2017 signing class is one of the most versatile classes we've ever had to join our squad," Kelly said. "Within this class, we have prolific goal-scorers, creative personalities, strong defensive mentalities and athleticism between the pipes. Our staff has been excited for a long time to get this group to campus, and they have been counting down the days until they can put on the 'TEXAS' jersey and represent this program with class."
Haley Berg
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Hometown: Celina, Texas
High School: Celina H.S.
Club: Solar Chelsea FC
Listed as the No. 2 prospect in Texas, the No. 11 overall midfielder prospect and the No. 27 national prospect in the Final Spring 2017 Girls IMG Academy National Top 150 rankings by Top Drawer Soccer, Berg ventures to the Forty Acres with a decorated resume in tow. The Celina, Texas, native is currently a part of the United States Under-19 National Team roster, participating in a recent training camp in Sunrise, Fla., from Jan. 28-Feb. 4, 2017. As a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team, Berg earned three caps during the 2016 Women's International Cup in Northern Ireland during October in a 2-1 loss to England, a 3-1 victory over France and a 3-0 shutout of host Northern Ireland. At a U.S. Under-18 July training camp at St. George's Park in England (July 6-15, 2016), Berg dished an assist on Team USA's opening goal as the Red, White & Blue tied England (2-2) on July 14. She also previously participated in a U.S. Under-15 National Team Camp from May 4-11, 2013, and was included among the invitees for the 2016 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp from July 28-Aug. 1, 2016, in Portland, Ore. In just one season of high school soccer for a first-year start-up program at Celina H.S., Berg earned 2016 TeamSnap Winter All-America First Team and Texas-North All-Region accolades after registering a Dallas-area best 64 goals and 13 assists over just 15 total matches. Berg has been a part of teams that secured eight Kick-It or Disney 3v3 World Championship titles as well as a World FC/Disney Futsal World Championship. One of the ECNL's top overall scorers over the last five years, despite often playing in divisions as much as three years above her age, Berg recently completed the 2016 campaign for her Solar Chelsea FC club squad with 37 total goals.
Bailey Dobbs
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Katy, Texas
High School: Seven Lakes H.S.
Club: Albion Hurricanes FC
Most recently listed as the No. 20 overall prospect in Texas according to the Final Spring 2017 Girls IMG Academy rankings by Top Drawer Soccer, Dobbs has earned a trio of All-District 19-6A nods (2014, 2015, 2016) over three standout seasons between the pipes for Seven Lakes H.S. During her three-year interscholastic career, she has managed 27 total shutouts in 42 overall matches played while posting miniscule goals-against-averages of 0.38 in 2014 (eight matches played), 0.17 in 2015 (12 matches played) and 0.73 in 2016 (22 matches played). While playing for her Albion Hurricanes FC club team and head coach Daniel Hill, Dobbs has been chosen by Top Drawer Soccer as one of its ECNL Day 3 Standouts (February 2016) and traveled to both Seattle, Wash., and San Diego, Calif., for regional/national playoff events.
Madison Dorsett
Position: Outside Back
Hometown: Carrollton, Texas
High School: Prestonwood Christian Academy

The daughter of former Dallas Cowboys (National Football League) running back, Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and Super Bowl XII champion Tony Dorsett, defender Madison Dorsett has lettered in both soccer and track at Prestonwood Christian Academy. On the pitch, she has earned both 2015 All-District Second Team and 2014 All-District Honorable Mention honors, while on the track, Dorsett has twice set Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) records as a part of consecutive 4x100 relay state championship teams (2015, 2016). For head coach Leo Maric and her Dallas Texans club squad, Dorsett was a part of a second place finisher at the 2014 ECNL National Playoffs in Richmond, Va. She has also participated at the 2016 ECNL National Playoffs in San Diego, Calif., and at both the 2014 & 2015 ECNL Regional Playoffs in Seattle, Wash.
Savannah Madden
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: San Diego, Calif.
High School: Scripps Ranch H.S.
Club: San Diego Surf SC
Listed as the No. 2 overall goalkeeping prospect, the No. 13 Southern California regional prospect and the No. 48 national prospect in the Final Spring 2017 Girls IMG Academy National Top 150 rankings by Top Drawer Soccer, Madden played four seasons between the pipes for head coach Larry Pernicano at Scripps Ranch H.S. During her interscholastic career, her squads won three consecutive Eastern League crowns (2014, 2015, 2016), while she was tabbed as All-Eastern League First Team in 2016. Madden was called up to the United States Under-17 Women's National Team camp from Sept. 13-20, 2015, in Carson, Calif., and also participated in a USA Goalkeeper National Camp during Dec. 2014. For the Cal South Pro and Girls 1999, she was part of two Olympic Development Program (ODP) National Youth Soccer Championships (2015, 2016) and four-consecutive Region IV ODP Youth Soccer Championships (2013-16). With her San Diego Surf club team, Madden helped secure two SURF Cup titles (2012, 2016), the 2014 Under-15 ECNL National Championship and an Under-12 National Cup Championship (2011).
Peyton McGee
Position: Defender
Hometown: Mansfield, Texas
High School: Mansfield Legacy H.S.
Club: Dallas Texans
Both a three-time All-District 14-5A First Team and Academic All-District choice (2014, 2015, 2016) for head coaches Heather Wilson and Rachel Ryan at Mansfield Legacy H.S., McGee has registered 30 career goals and six assists. During her junior campaign in 2016, she located the back of the twine 18 times and dished five helpers in being named her squad's offensive most valuable player as Mansfield Legacy secured the program's first District 14-5A title on goal differential. Previously in her career, she was lauded as the District 14-5A Newcomer of the Year back in 2014. McGee also played alongside fellow signee Madison Dorsett as a part of head coach Leo Maric's Dallas Texans club team.
Erin Moudy
Position: Outside Back
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
High School: Lake Highlands H.S.
Club: Solar Chelsea FC
For head coach Don Tatum at Lake Highlands H.S., Moudy has earned a pair of selections to the 10-6A Richardson Independent School District (RISD) All-District Team (2014, 2015) while also being tabbed as a two-time Academic All-Conference selection. During her club soccer career alongside fellow Texas signee Haley Berg with Solar Chelsea FC, Moudy has helped her squads to a fifth-place finish at the 2016 ECNL National Playoffs (San Diego, Calif.), an undefeated run through the 2015 ECNL National Playoffs and an eventual third-place finish at the 2015 ECNL National Finals in Richmond, Va., and three consecutive ECNL Texas Conference championships (2014, 2015, 2016). Her Solar Chelsea FC teams have also won the Dallas International Girls Cup (2013, 2014) and been LHGCL Grand Champions (2011, 2013), North Texas State Cup and Texas Cup Champions (2012) and Disney Junior Showcase Champions (2011).
Amber Stearns (previously announced transfer from Boston College)
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas

Club: McLean Youth Soccer ECNL
Listed as a midfielder during her time at B.C., the San Antonio, Texas, native played in 34 matches (1,616 total minutes) over the previous two years for the Eagles, managing 19 total shots, including five on frame, while registering her first career goal and points as a sophomore during a 5-1 victory over Pacific on Sept. 4, 2016. Prior to playing collegiately, Stearns was highly-rated at both No. 18 overall and as the No. 7 forward in Top Drawer Soccer's listing of 2015 national recruits. While also playing club soccer for head coach Clyde Watson with McLean Youth Soccer ECNL, she received call-ups to United States Under-18 National Team (2012, 2013), U.S. Under-15 National Team (2011, 2012) and U.S. Under-14 National Team Camps (2010), while also helping guide the U.S. Under-19's to the championship at the FIFA Kuban Tournament in Russia (2013). Stearns was a part of U.S. Soccer Training Center Camps (2010, 2011, 2012), participated in the Region 1 Olympic Development Program (ODP) and was invited to the Puma Elite Prospect Showcase for the nation's top recruits back in 2012.
Emily Strouphauer
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Hometown: Round Rock, Texas
High School: Cedar Ridge H.S.
Club: Lonestar FC
A local product out of Round Rock, Texas, that was listed as the No. 7 prospect in Texas, the No. 20 overall midfielder prospect and the No. 51 national prospect in the Final Spring 2017 Girls IMG Academy National Top 150 rankings by Top Drawer Soccer, Strouphauer heads to the Forty Acres with impressive totals of 42 goals and 37 assists for 121 total points over three seasons at Cedar Ridge H.S. During her interscholastic career, she has earned two All-District 13-6A First Team and District 13-6A Midfield Most Valuable Player Superlative honors (2015, 2016), was chosen as honorable mention All-District 13-6A and newcomer of the year as a freshman in 2014 and has been named the Cedar Ridge Women's Soccer MVP three times (2014, 2015, 2016). Strouphauer has played 10 years for head coach Sophia Mundy with Lonestar SC and internationally, earned the opportunity to train with the youth academy at Olympique Lyonnais (French Ligue 1) in Lyon, France, back in 2013. She also earned call-ups to U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team Training Camps in Chula Vista, Calif., from Feb. 1-8 & April 19-26, 2015.
Natalie Weidenbach
Position: Outside Back
Hometown: North Bend, Wash.
High School: Mount Si H.S.
Club: Eastside FC
A three-year letter winner on the pitch for head coach Darren Brown at Mount Si H.S., Weidenbach has reaped a pair of first team All-KingCo 4A (2015, 2016) accolades and one second team All-KingCo 3A honor while also completing her junior season as KingCo 4A's leading scorer (2015). As a club soccer player with Eastside FC and head coach Tom Bialek, Weidenbach has been a part of three Washington State Champions (2014, 2015, 2016) as well as the 2014 US Youth Soccer National League, the 2013 US Youth Soccer National and Region IV and 2016 US Youth Soccer Region IV titlists. Off the field, Weidenbach is a part of the National Honor Society's "100-Hour Club" for her efforts in volunteering and has received an AP Scholar Award (2015).
