AUSTIN, Texas – Future Texas Longhorn Tripp Piperi added one more medal to his mantle before joining the Longhorns this fall with a bronze-medal performance at the Pan American Junior Championships in Peru on Sunday.
The state champion from The Woodlands placed third in the shot put for Team USA with a toss of 20.26 meters (66-5.75). Piperi was in second place after two rounds of throws and bumped to third place in round three. He posted his longest mark in round four and was just six centimeters shy of second place.
Piperi is set to join this Longhorns this fall on The Forty Acres. He ranked fifth in the world this year in the junior shot put (6 kg) with a best mark of 20.80m at the USATF Junior Championships.
