No. 4 Volleyball defeats Georgia Tech for second sweep of USD Tournament

Sophomore Micaya White led the Longhorns with 10 kills, hitting .450.
San Diego, Calif – Sophomore Micaya White posted a season-high 10 kills, five digs, and five blocks to lead No. 4 Texas past Georgia Tech, 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-16) in the USD Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
White's 10 kills came on 20 attacks, only committing one error for a .450 hitting percentage.
Senior Ebony Nwanebu finished with nine kills on 17 attacks, also committing only one error for a .471 hitting percentage, adding six blocks.
Three additional Longhorns hit .316 or better, led by freshman Lexi Sun's eight kills (.316), senior Chiaka Ogbogu's six (.500), and freshman Ashley Shook's three (.750).
Shook led Texas in assists with 28, while senior Cat McCoy recorded a team-high 10 digs.
As a team, UT hit .397 and held Georgia Tech to -.088.
Ogbogu led Texas in blocks for the second-straight match, finishing with eight, leading a 30-4 blocking advantage for the Longhorns.
The teams traded points to open the match up to a score of 11-10. With White's five kills, four digs, and three blocks in the opening set leading Texas, a run of five consecutive points took the Longhorns to 16-10, before closing the set out, 25-13.
Picking up the second where the first set left off, Texas opened the second set with a 15-5 run, recording a .404 hitting percentage and restricting Georgia Tech to a negative clip. The Longhorns didn't look back, closing out the set out, 25-10.
With Texas looking to secure a sweep by taking the third set, five kills and four blocks from Nwanebu drove the Longhorns towards the decisive mark. 25-16 was the final third set score, as the Longhorns moved to an undefeated 2-0 record in the USD Tournament.
The Longhorns will wrap up the day's action and the USD Tournament, with a matchup with the No. 17 San Diego Toreros at 9.30 p.m. CT.
