TEXAS HEAD COACH KAREN ASTON
"I thought it was good to get our team under the lights, especially the young players, and give them a shot at what it looks like to put the uniform on in front of a crowd. The main point of this game is really always for the ones that have never put the uniform on. I think it gives them a sense of what that feels like – going through gameday warmup, going through the routine of getting prepared to play a game. I thought West Texas A&M really executed exactly like we thought they would. Much, much respect for the way they executed their game plan. We have a long way to go defensively, but that's the one area that I've always felt like you could adjust and dramatically improve in a short period of time. We have a lot to improve on, but I would imagine that every coach in the country would say that right now."
WEST TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH KRISTEN MATTIO
"I thought in the first half we really competed. I don't really like how we came out of the locker room to start the second half. I thought we relaxed a little bit. But give Texas credit - they're big, they're strong and they're athletic. That's what we had to go against all night and that was an advantage for them. I thought we stayed in the game and tried to throw as many punches as we could. Still, a loss is a loss. I like how we started but didn't like the middle part. Overall, I'm proud of the way that we competed."
