Higgs got off to a quick start, scoring the first five points of the game for the Longhorns, as Texas jumped out to a 24-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Active hands and stout defense from the Longhorns forced Duquesne to commit 10 turnovers, while holding the Dukes to just five made field goals on 19 percent shooting in the first half. Texas entered the locker room at halftime with a 25-point lead, 37-12.
Duquesne got into a little bit of an offensive rhythm to begin the second half but the aggressive Texas defense prevented the Dukes from building any momentum as the Longhorns outscored the Dukes 22-11 in the third quarter, extending their lead to 36, 59-23.
