NOTES
- It's a meeting between mentor and pupil on Monday night when the No. 11/8 Texas women's basketball team travels to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas. Tip-off in the UNT Coliseum is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast live on 105.3 FM or at TexasSports.com/audio.
- Texas-North Texas Ties: Texas head coach Karen Aston served as head coach at North Texas during the 2011-12 season, posting a 15-16 record. She was also an assistant coach at North Texas from 1996-98. Aston coached Jalie Mitchell at North Texas and Mitchell later served as an assistant for Aston at both North Texas [2011-12] and Texas [2012-15].
- The Series: Texas and North Texas are meeting for the 13th time in the history of the two programs and for the first time since 2011. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 12-0. When the two teams last met in 2011, Aston was on the sidelines as the head coach of the Mean Green. Texas won that meeting 71-62 on Dec. 17, 2011.
- Against The Lone Star State: Texas is 458-116 [.798] all-time against teams from the state of Texas that are currently in NCAA Division I. In addition to Big 12 Conference foes Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech, the Longhorns will also face in-state teams UTSA [Nov. 28] and UTRGV [Dec. 20].
- The 1,000-Point Club: Lashann Higgs, who has played in 104 career games for the Longhorns, is now 16 points away from becoming the 44th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. Higgs has 984 points during her time on the Forty Acres.
- Littleton Chasing Her Destiny: Texas sophomore Destiny Littleton committed herself to hard work during the summer of 2018 and the results are starting to pay off. In the season opener against Duquesne, Littleton scored a career-high 15 points, including three three-pointers. For context, Littleton scored a total of 17 points all of last season.
- Taking Care of the Ball: Through one game, Texas leads the Big 12 Conference and ranks 10th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio with 22 assists to 10 turnovers in the season opener. Junior point guard Sug Sutton ranks 33rd nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio at 4.50.
