The Opening Kickoff
• The University of Texas enters the final week of the regular season with a lot riding on Friday's game at Kansas. Kickoff against the Jayhawks inside of David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is set for 11:05 a.m. CT on Friday.
• Justin Kutcher (play-by-play), Demarco Murray (analyst), Petros Papadakis (analyst) and Alex Curry (sideline) will have the call on FS1.
• The Longhorn IMG Radio Network broadcast with Craig Way (play-by-play), Roger Wallace (analyst) and Quan Cosby (sideline) can be heard on Sirius channel 84, XM channel 84 and app channel 84 in addition to the local affiliates listed on page two.
• The Longhorns' Spanish language radio broadcast, Cadena Deportiva, can be heard in Austin and Dallas, or online at TexasSports.com. Dr. Rubén Pizarro-Silva (play-by-play) and Jesus Mendoza (analyst) are on the call.
• Longhorn Network's broadcast begins at 9 a.m. with Texas GameDay. The two-hour pregame show will feature interviews, stories and analysis surrounding Saturday's game. After the game, LHN broadcasts Texas GameDay Final, with postgame interviews, analysis and highlights.
• The Longhorns enter the contest with a record of 8-3 overall, 6-2 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas defeated Iowa State 24-10 Saturday night and will clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game with a win on Friday.
• Kansas enters with a 3-8 overall record, 1-7 in conference play. The Jayhawks are coming off a 55-40 loss at Oklahoma on Saturday night.
• Texas is ranked No. 11 in both the AP poll and the Coaches Poll, while Kansas is unranked.
• Texas has been ranked for nine consecutive polls, its longest stretch since being ranked in 162 straight polls from 2000-10.
• Friday's game, the day after Thanksgiving, marks the Longhorns' first game on Thanksgiving (or the Friday after) played outside the state of Texas since 1934, when UT played at Arkansas the Friday after Thanksgiving.
• In fact, it will serve as UT's first non-home game, or non-traditional matchup with Texas A&M, on Thanksgiving or the Friday after since the Longhorns played at Baylor on Thanksgiving in 1994.
Flipping The Script In 2018
• After going 1-4 against ranked teams in 2017, the Longhorns have gone 4-1 against ranked foes this season.
• Texas has defeated No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 17 TCU, No. 18 Iowa State and No. 22 USC this season. Their four wins against ranked foes are tied with LSU, Georgia and Notre Dame for the most in the country.
• UT defeated Top 25 opponents in consecutive weeks for the first time since the 2008 season when they beat No. 22/21 USC 37-14 on Sept. 15 and then No. 17/17 TCU 31-16 on Sept. 22.
Home Field Advantage
• Texas finished the 2018 season 5-1 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, its most wins at home since winning six games in 2009. UT was 3-3 at home in 2017.
• Saturday's game marked the third sellout of the season at DKR. The announced attendance of 102,498 was the second-largest in school history. Earlier this season, UT set its single-game attendance record with an announced crowd of 103,507 against USC. The game against WVU was also a sellout, with 100,703 fans.
• In total, 586,277 fans saw a game at DKR in 2018. The average attendance of 97,712 was the eighth-largest in school history, and the most since the 2013 season.
2018 Academic All-Big 12
• Twelve Longhorns earned 2018 Academic All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced last Thursday.
• The 10 first-team honorees were Austin Allsup, Cade Brewer, Devin Duvernay, Sam Ehlinger, Jak Holbrook, Kyle Hrncir, Philipp Moeller, Kyle Porter, Zach Shackelford and Tim Yoder.
• The two second-teamers were Jeffrey McCulloch and Elijah Rodriguez.
Ehlinger By The Numbers
• True sophomore Sam Ehlinger played just the first half of Saturday's win, going 12-of-15 for 137 yards and two total touchdowns.
• Ehlinger has completed 217-of-334 passes for 2,620 yards (10th in school history) and 21 touchdowns this season. He has also rushed for 375 yards and 10 scores. The most rushing TDs by a UT QB in school history is 14.
• Ehlinger has thrown just two interceptions, and has currently attempted a school- and Big 12-record 295 consecutive passes without an INT.
• Ehlinger is the 10th Longhorn to eclipse 4,000 career passing yards. He currently sits 10th with 4,535 career passing yards. His 32 career touchdown passes are seventh-most in school history.
• He has totaled 2,985 yards (2,620 pass/375 rush) this season, moving into ninth in school history for total offense in a season, surpassing Vince Young's 2004 season. Only eight QBs have ever eclipsed 3,000 yards of total offense in a season. For Ehlinger's career, he currently ranks 10th in school history with 5,295 yards (4,535 pass/760 rush) of total offense.
Buechele Adds Valuable Experience
• Junior quarterback Shane Buechele battled with Sam Ehlinger throughout camp for the starting job and has added valuable experience as the backup so far this season. Buechele entered the Baylor game in the first quarter and the Iowa State game after halftime.
• In Saturday's win over Iowa State, Buechele went a perfect 10-for-10 with 89 yards passing and a touchdown.
• Buechele has started 19 games in his career and passed for 4,636 yards and 30 touchdowns.
• He is one of just 10 players in school history to ever throw for more than 4,000 yards in a career.
• Buechele has passed for at least 200 yards in 14 career games, the seventh-most in school history. He has two career 300-yard games.
• He has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 18-of-23 games in his career and has eight career multi-touchdown games.
• His 30 career touchdown passes are ranked ninth in school history.
Lil'Jordan, Big Impact
• Lil'Jordan Humphrey became the ninth player in school history with a 1,000-yard receiving season in Saturday's win over Iowa State. He became the first 1,000-yard receiver since John Harris in 2014.
• He leads the team with 70 catches (T-5th UT single season history) for 1,033 yards (9th UT single season) and eight touchdowns (9th UT single season).
• Humphrey is one of just five players in school history (Jordan Shipley, 2008-09; Quan Cosby, 2008; Roy Williams, 2003; and Wane McGarity, 1998) with at least 1,000 yards and eight receiving TDs in a season.
• Humphrey became the first Longhorn since Mike Davis in 2012 to register 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games when he did so against WVU and Texas Tech.
• In fact, Humphrey is just the fourth player in school history (Roy Williams, 2002; Wane McGarity, 1998; Mike Adams, 1993) with 140-or-more receiving yards in back-to-back games.
Johnson A Defensive Leader
• Senior linebacker Gary Johnson leads the team with 74 tackles, which ranks 11th in the Big 12.
• Johnson has added 14 tackles for loss (4th Big 12) and 5.5 sacks (T-7th Big 12).
• in conference play, Johnson's 60 tackles ranks ninth, while his nine tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks also rank in the Top 10 of the conference.
Omenihu Living In The Backfield
• Senior defensive end Charles Omenihu has lived in the opponents' backfield. He has 12.5 tackles for loss (5th Big 12) and 7.5 sacks (T-3rd).
• In eight conference games, Omenihu has 11.5 TFL (3rd) and 6.5 sacks (T-2nd).
Stopping The Run
• Texas' rush defense ranks 37th nationally (136.5 ypg) a season after ranking eighth nationally in 2017 (106.8 ypg).
• The Longhorns have held three opponents under 100 yards rushing so far in 2018 after holding seven opponents under 100 yards in 2017.
• Prior to Orlando's arrival, UT had held just six opponents under 100 rushing yards in a game between 2012-16.
