- Coming off a gritty comeback victory against Quinnipiac on Friday - the opening day of the Gulf Coast Showcase - the No. 10/9 Texas women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday to face Michigan. Tip-off between the Longhorns and Wolverines is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT at Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla. Michigan defeated Missouri 70-54 on Friday.
- The Series: Texas and Michigan are meeting for the first time in the history of the two programs. The Longhorns are 56-27 [.675] all-time against teams in the current alignment of the Big Ten Conference.
- Texas 56, Quinnipiac 55: Texas juniors Sug Sutton and Jada Underwood combined for 19 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists Friday as the No. 10/9 Longhorns erased a 15-point deficit to defeat Quinnipiac, 56-55. Freshman Audrey Warren made the game-winning jumper with 47 seconds left.
- On The Boards: Texas has held the rebound edge in each of its four games this season and ranks 18th nationally in rebound margin at +15.0. The Longhorns are bringing down an average of 49.0 boards per game. Dating back to the start of the 2015-16 season, Texas has won the battle of the boards in 93 of the last 109 games overall.
- Sweet Like Sug[ar]: Junior Sug Sutton is in her first season as the Longhorns' starting point guard. Sutton has made her presence felt both as a leader on the team and on the court. She currently ranks second in the Big 12 Conference and 29th nationally in assists per game at 7.3. In the win against Quinnipiac, Sutton charted her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists.
- Underwood Having Breakout Season: Junior Jada Underwood has had a breakout start to the 2018-19 campaign. She entered this season with career averages of 3.0 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per game. This season, Underwood averages 7.8 points per game and leads her team with 6.8 rebounds per game. She brought down a career-high 13 rebounds vs. Quinnipiac.
