- It will be a top-10 match-up at the Frank Erwin Center on Sunday when No. 10 Texas plays host to No. 6 Mississippi State in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by FS1. The Bulldogs have played in back-to-back NCAA Championship games and the Longhorns have advanced to four consecutive NCAA Sweet 16s.
- The Series: Texas and Mississippi State meet for the fifth time in the history of the two programs with the all-time series tied 2-2. The last time the two teams played in Austin [Dec. 2, 2015], Texas won 53-47. In the last meeting between the two teams, Mississippi State earned a 79-68 victory in Starkville.
- Defend The Drum: Texas is 80-10 [.889] inside the Frank Erwin Center since the start of the 2013-14 season, including a 51-6 [.895] record since the start of the 2015-16 campaign. Eight of the 10 losses that Texas has suffered at home since 2013-14 have come to opponents ranked in the AP top-six.
- On The Boards: Texas has held or tied for the rebounding advantage in all seven games it has played this season and 96 of the last 112 games overall. The Longhorns rank eighth nationally in rebound margin at +15.1 and have recorded 50 or more boards in three games this season.
- Warren Named Big 12 Freshman of the Week: Freshman Audrey Warren was named the Big 12 Conference Co-Freshman of the Week for her performances at the Gulf Coast Showcase. She averaged 9.7 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game and led the Longhorns with 2.0 steals per game over the three-game stretch. She also hit the game-winning shot with 47 seconds remaining in the comeback victory against Quinnipiac.
- Sweet Like Sug[ar]: Junior Sug Sutton is in her first season as the starting point guard for the Longhorns, but she is quickly beginning to emerge as one of the nation's top point guards. She ranks third nationally in total assists [45] and is 14th in assists per game [6.4]. The last time a Texas player averaged 6.0 or better assists for a season was Edwina Brown in 1999-00 [6.1].
- Up Next: Texas continues its four-game homestand next Sunday, Dec. 9 when it plays host to No. 11/11 Tennessee at the Frank Erwin Center. Tip-off is slated for 12 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by ESPN2.
