Heather Bowie Young selected for induction into WGCA Players Hall of Fame

Bowie Young claimed the 1997 NCAA Championship while at Texas.
Heather Bowie Young, the 1997 NCAA Champion and National Player of the Year while competing for Texas Women's Golf, has been selected for induction into the Women's Golf Coaches Association Players Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday.
The Hall of Fame induction will take place at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nev., on Sunday, December 2. She joins Jenny Lidback of TCU and LSU, and Marilynn Smith of the University of Kansas as the 2018 inductees.
Bowie Young played two seasons at Arizona State, helping the Sun Devils to NCAA Championships in 1994 and 1995, before transferring to Texas.
Bowie earned All-America honors at Texas in both 1996 and 1997, garnering WGCA second-team honors in 1996 and WGCA first-team accolades in 1997. She won both the first-ever Big 12 Conference Championship in 1997 and went on to win the NCAA Championship. Bowie Young was the National Player of the Year in 1997, winning the Honda Broderick Award. She is a member of the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor.
Bowie Young played 16 years on the LPGA Tour, earning 28 top-10 finishes and winning the 2005 Jamie Farr Owens Corning LPGA Classic. In 2003, she was a member of the United States Solheim Cup team.
Bowie Young, a native of Washington, D.C., is in her third season as an assistant women's golf coach at Clemson University.
