- The No. 13/12 University of Texas women's basketball team closes out 2018 on Saturday when it plays host to Northwestern State. Tip-off in the Frank Erwin Center is slated for 1 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network. The Longhorns are playing for the first time since defeating UT Rio Grande Valley, 81-66, on December 20 at Edinburg, Texas.
- The Series: Texas and Northwestern State meet for the seventh time in the history of the two programs and for the sixth consecutive year. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 6-0. Texas defeated Northwestern State 68-44 in Austin last season. The Longhorns are 52-9 [.852] all-time against members in the current alignment of the Southland Conference.
- On The Boards: Texas ranks fifth nationally in rebound margin at +14.2. The Longhorns lead the Big 12 Conference with 495 total boards on the season and Texas is averaging 45.0 rebounds per game, which ranks 14th nationally. The Longhorns have held or tied for the rebounding advantage in 10 of the 11 games it has played this season and 99 of the last 116 games overall.
- A Balanced Effort: The Longhorns are finding success through a balanced effort this season. Seven active players are averaging 7.0 points per game or better, led by senior Jatarie White's 12.1 points per game. White is the only active Texas player to average double-figure points this season. Six players are averaging 20 or more minutes per game, led by senior guard Danni Williams' 30.5 mpg.
- Sweet Like Sug[ar]: Junior Sug Sutton is in her first season as the starting point guard for the Longhorns, but she is quickly beginning to emerge as one of the nation's top floor leaders. She ranks 17th nationally in total assists [67] and is 15th in assists per game [6.1]. The last time a Texas player averaged 6.0 or better assists for a season was Edwina Brown in 1999-00 [6.1].
