- It will be the 40th meeting between two of the nation's most successful women's basketball programs of all-time on Sunday presented by AT&T. No. 12 Texas [1,072 all-time wins] plays host to No. 9 Tennessee [1,351 all-time wins] at the Frank Erwin Center with tip-off slated for 12 p.m. CT. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN2.
- The Series: Texas and Tennessee meet for the 40th time in the history of the series with the Lady Vols leading the all-time series 24-15. This is the 37th consecutive season that the Longhorns and Lady Vols will meet. Tennessee holds a 10-8 advantage when the game is played in Austin. Texas is 146-74 [.664] all-time vs. members in the current alignment of the Southeastern Conference.
- Defend The Drum: Texas is 80-11 [.879] inside the Frank Erwin Center since the start of the 2013-14 season, including a 51-7 [.879] record since the start of the 2015-16 campaign. Nine of the 11 losses that Texas has suffered at home since 2013-14 have come to opponents ranked in the AP top-six.

- Aston Seeks Win 150 At Texas: Texas head coach Karen Aston, in her seventh season leading the Longhorns, is on the verge of her 150th victory on the Forty Acres. Aston is 149-63 [.703] at Texas, having led the Longhorns to four consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, including an NCAA Elite Eight showing in 2015-16. She is 250-126 [.665] in her 12th season as a collegiate head coach.
- Sweet Like Sug[ar]: Junior Sug Sutton is in her first season as the starting point guard for the Longhorns, but she is quickly beginning to emerge as one of the nation's top point guards. She ranks 16th nationally in total assists [50] and is 18th in assists per game [6.3]. The last time a Texas player averaged 6.0 or better assists for a season was Edwina Brown in 1999-00 [6.1].
