The No. 8 University of Texas women's golf team is set to play host to the NCAA Austin Regional Monday through Wednesday at the University of Texas Golf Club. The Longhorns are looking to advance to their 27th all-time NCAA Championship and their third consecutive.
The top-six teams and top-three individuals not affiliated with those six teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, which will take place May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
"I like where we are at right now," Texas head coach Ryan Murphy said. "Obviously conference was a nice confidence boost. We've worked in different areas to get ready for this golf tournament. The goal is the same as it always is. We're going to go about our business as usual. We're going to stay in our routines as much as we can. We're going to focus our attention on the golf course and play it the best way that we can. I know that if we focus our attention on that, we'll have a chance in the end."
The 54-hole stroke play event on the par-72, 6,341-yard course will begin at 8 a.m. CT each day from the No. 1 and the No. 10 tees.
The Longhorns have a record of 120-33-1 against their opponents this season, including a 34-18-1 tally against ranked opponents. Texas has eight top-five team finishes in 11 tournaments this year, including three team victories.
Freshman Kaitlyn Papp recently became the first person in school history to be named both Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Freshman of the Year in the same season. Papp has competed in all 11 tournaments and 31 rounds for the Longhorns this season. She has a stroke average of 71.74, which ranks second on her team.
Senior Sophia Schubert and sophomore Emilee Hoffman each were named to the 2018 All-Big 12 Team, along with Papp. Schubert has participated in six tournaments this season with six top-10 finishes. She leads the team with a stroke-average of 71.67. Hoffman has played in all 11 tournaments and 31 rounds for the Longhorns in 2017-18. She ranks third on the team in stroke average at 73.03 and has 12 rounds at par or better on the year.
Sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker and freshman Agathe Laisne round out the Texas lineup at the NCAA Austin Regional.
