MADRID, Spain -- Four Longhorns divers won medals on the final day of competition at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Madrid. Texas divers have taken home eight medals in the last two legs of the Grand Prix.
Murphy Bromberg earned the gold medal in the 10-meter finals with a final score of 362.10 points. The gold medal was the second in two weeks for the Longhorn divers with Alison Gibson earning a first-place finish last week in Bolzano, Italy. Gibson finished her Grand Prix in Madrid with a bronze medal in the 3-meter synchro finals. She partnered with Krysta Palmer for 271.89 points.
Grayson Campbell and Jacob Cornish also won bronze medals on the final day of competition in Madrid. Campbell partnered with Greg Duncan in the 3-meter synchro finals for the second-straight week while Jacob Cornish earned 308.94 points in the 10m synchro.
"It's a great day for Team USA and the Longhorns," said Texas head diving coach Matt Scoggin. "Murphy (Bromberg) just kept getting better – third in prelims, second in semifinals, and first in the finals with a highly competitive international list of divers. Then Grayson (Campbell), Alison (Gibson), and Jacob (Cornish) added three bronze medals in synchro all on the same day. It's the second Grand Prix in two weeks with Texas divers earning four medals (two gold, two silver, and four bronze)."
Competition in Madrid marked the completion of the season for the Longhorn divers but the FINA Diving Grand Prix will continue in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from November 9-11.
