Austin Katz and Townley Haas won three medals in Tokyo for the United States
TOKYO, Japan – Two Longhorns from The University of Texas Men's Swimming team captured three medals for the United States at the Pan Pacific Championships held in Tokyo, Japan.
Townley Haas anchored the 200m freestyle relay for Team USA and recorded the third fastest split (1:43.78) ever to win the gold medal. Haas teamed with Andrew Seliskar, Blake Pieroni and Zach Apple to set a 7:04.36 pace. Haas also previously captured a first-place finish in the 200 free with a 1:45.56 pace.
Austin Katz earned a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke on the final day of competition in Tokyo. Katz turned in a 1:56.00 time for his third-place finish.
The Pan Pacific Championships marked the final international competition for the Texas swimmers before their 2018-19 campaign begins.
