No. 6 rankings in two of this week’s polls mark UT’s highest in any listing since Sept. 9, 2008
AUSTIN, Texas – An unbeaten 9-0-1 start and an eight-match winning streak have paid dividends as Texas soccer roared into the top 10 of every major ranking this week, coming in at No. 6 in both the Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer America polls and No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches listing.
The No. 6 Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer America rankings are the highest for the Longhorns soccer program in any poll since a nod at No. 4 from Soccer America back on Sept. 9, 2008.
The Longhorns remain one of nine unbeaten teams left in all of NCAA Division I women's soccer. Two teams are undefeated with no ties (Boston College, Washington State), while seven squads are unbeaten with at least one tie (Texas, FGCU, Georgetown, Colorado, UC-Riverside, USC and Stanford).
Texas also moved up six slots to No. 10 in this week's release of the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), a measure utilized to rank teams based on a combination of wins and losses as well as strength of schedule.
The Burnt Orange & White have become a recent mainstay in the national polls, having been included in each of the last 17 United Soccer Coaches rankings (and all releases from both Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer over that span) dating back to Sept. 12, 2017. That's when UT utilized a 7-0-0 start to leap into the top 25 for the first time since appearing in the Soccer America poll on Oct. 29, 2013.
It's out on the rugged Big 12 Conference road for the Longhorns this weekend with challenging visits to No. 13 Oklahoma State (Fri., Sept. 28, 7 p.m. CT) and TCU (Sun., Sept. 30, 1 p.m. CT).
