Schooner Fall Classic

Record-setting day for No. 6 Women's Golf to open Schooner Fall Classic
09.28.2018 | Women's Golf
The Longhorns recorded the best 18-hole team total (272) in program history.
NORMAN, Okla. - Freshman Sára Kousková carded a five-under-par 66 Friday and the No. 6 Texas women's golf team set a program record with a team total of 272 on the opening day of the Schooner Fall Classic. The Longhorns are tied with No. 3 Alabama for the team lead at 12-under-par after the opening 18 holes of the event, which is being played at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
Four Longhorns finished under par for the day, including three golfers with rounds in the 60s. Texas' record-setting 18-hole team total of 272 on the par-71 course bested the previous school record of 273, accomplished in the final round of the 2014 Schooner Fall Classic.
Texas had the best par-four scoring [3.87, -6] of any team in the field on Friday and the Longhorns' 19 birdies were the second-most recorded by any squad.
The Longhorns on Friday honored the life and memory of former Iowa State golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena by wearing gold shirts with "Celia" embroidered in cardinal during the round.
