Nebraska transfer Capri Davis set to join Longhorns this spring
AUSTIN, Texas - Texas volleyball and head coach Jerritt Elliott are excited to announce the signing of transfer Capri Davis, a Mansfield, Texas native.
"She's an explosive athlete from the state of Texas that we are thrilled to get into our gym," Elliott said of the addition. "We are very excited to welcome her to our family."
Davis, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, spent the last two academic years at the University of Nebraska and will join the Longhorns this spring.
During her time as a Husker, Davis played in 26 matches and made three starts during the 2018 season. She put down 79 kills (1.14 per set), 16 digs and seven blocks. She posted a career-high 18 kills with five digs in a five-set comeback win at No. 14 Creighton and in the 2018 National Championship match, she chipped in five kills on .500 hitting in the against No. 1 Stanford.
In 2019, she recorded 38 kills and 12 blocks before taking a season-ending leave of absence from the team.
Davis attended Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, Texas with Longhorn signee Madison Williams. She was named an Under Armour first-team All-American and ranked the No. 21 overall prospect by PrepVolleyball.com. As a high school senior, she averaged 4.6 kills per set and 3.1 digs per set with a .308 hitting percentage, and served 55 aces and had 85 blocks in 107 sets played. Davis led the Eagles to the Texas 5A regional quarterfinals with a 35-10 overall record.
She finished her high school career with 1,371 kills and 512 blocks with 136 aces.
Davis joins November signees Madison Williams, Naomi Cabello, Nalani Iosia and Reilly Heinrich.
