No. 2 Volleyball sweeps Albany in NCAA First Round

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 2 Texas volleyball opened up the 2019 NCAA Volleyball Championships with a sweep over the University at Albany, 25-9, 25-16, 25-15.
The Longhorns had three players put down double-digit kills led by senior Micaya White, who put down 13 while hitting .571. Freshman Skylar Fields added 10 kills, hitting .692, and sophomore Logan Eggleston added 10 kills, hitting .438.
White added six digs, two assists and a block, while Fields added two blocks and a dig. Eggleston recorded five digs, four blocks and an ace.
Sophomore middle blocker Brionne Butler tallied seven kills without a hitting error to post a clip of .583. She also added five blocks and two digs.
Sophomore Jhenna Gabriel dished out 33 assists, adding four digs, one block and a kill.
The Longhorns return to action on Friday evening at 7 p.m. against University of California – Santa Barbara, who advanced following a 3-1 win over Texas State.
