The Longhorns open their season Saturday, Dec. 7, in Houston.
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Track and Field program is set to open its 2019-20 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the FasTrak Collegiate Opener in Houston, Texas. The one-day meet will be held at the Yeoman Fieldhouse, which is located on the University of Houston campus.
"We're looking forward to getting the season going. This December meet is a pretty good opportunity, because we're probably as fit as we're going to be after three months of training without stopping," Texas head coach Edrick Floréal said earlier this week. "It's an opportunity to assess and see where we're at and know what adjustments we need to make going forward."
The Longhorns return 10 Indoor All-Americans from a season ago, including seven on the men's side. That group includes Terry Brown, Jr. (DMR), John Burt (60mH), Brendan Hebert (DMR), Jonathan Jones (400m), Tripp Piperi (Shot Put), O'Brien Wasome (Triple Jump) and Sam Worley (Mile, DMR). On the women's side, Texas returns a trio of All-American sprinters in Serenity Douglas (4x400m Relay), Kynnedy Flannel (200m) and Kennedy Simon (4x400m Relay).
UT's 2019-20 indoor roster also features a number of competitors who earned All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last season. That list included Micaiah Harris (200m), Sophia Falco (Long Jump) and Georgia Wahl (Triple Jump).
This weekend's traveling squad will be a sprint-heavy group with some jumpers and pole vault competitors included. A look at the Longhorns scheduled to compete in the FasTrak Collegiate Opener this weekend:
