AUSTIN, Texas - Junior guard/forward Joyner Holmes scored a game-high 20 points Saturday to lead No. 19 Texas past Texas Tech, 81-57, at the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns swept the season series with the Lady Raiders for the sixth consecutive year.
Texas (21-6, 11-4 Big 12 Conference) shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field in the win and improves to 7-0 this season when shooting better than 50 percent. The Longhorns out-rebounded the Lady Raiders 48-25 and dominated points in the paint 42-20.
Holmes, who also made a pair of three-pointers and tied her career high with four assists, brought down six rebounds in 20 minutes. She was one of three Longhorns to score in double figures as senior guard Danni Williams totaled 16 and freshman forward Charli Collier added 14. Collier, who has scored in double figures in four consecutive games, brought down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Longhorns scored the first nine points of the game and led wire-to-wire in the win. Texas took a 40-17 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Texas Tech (12-14, 3-12 Big 12) was led by Chrislyn Carr's 19 points and Brittany Brewer's 13.

Texas returns to action on Monday when it travels to Waco, Texas, to take on No. 1 Baylor. Tip-off in the Ferrell Center is slated for 6 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by FS1.
