WACO, Texas - Junior forward Joyner Holmes scored a team-high nine points and senior center Jatarie White brought down a squad-best 11 rebounds as the No. 18 Texas women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Baylor, 64-35, on Monday at the Ferrell Center.
The Longhorns (21-7, 11-5 Big 12 Conference) shot just 20.3 percent (13-of-64) from the field, but out-rebounded the Lady Bears (26-1, 16-0), 46-44 in the game.
The game was close in the early going and Texas cut its deficit to two, 18-16, with 7:28 remaining in the second quarter. But Baylor closed the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 27-16 advantage into the locker room and never looked back.
Holmes was the Longhorns' leading scorer with nine points, while Sug Sutton, Audrey Warren and White all added six points. White was the team's leading rebounder with 11 boards.
Baylor was led by Kalani Brown's double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds - both game-highs.

Texas returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Iowa State for Senior Day. Tip-off in the Frank Erwin Center is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by Longhorn Network. The Longhorns will honor seniors Olamide Aborowa, Jatarie White and Danni Williams prior to the start of the game.
