Sug Sutton recorded a team-high 21 points to pace four Longhorns in double-figure scoring.
AUSTIN, Texas — Junior point guard Sug Sutton scored a team-high 21 points, but The No. 18 Texas Women's Basketball team (21-8, 11-6 Big 12) fell, 82-73, to No. 20 Iowa State (22-7, 12-5 Big 12) on Saturday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Sutton converted 7-of-17 from floor, including 7-of-9 from the free throw line, while adding five rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes.
Senior guard Danni Williams tallied 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Junior guard Joyner Holmes scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Destiny Littleton added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Cyclones opened the game hitting 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) from three-point range as Iowa State took a 23-8 lead at the 1:48 mark of the first quarter. The Longhorns would trail by 17 (27-10) after one. A quick 7-0 run by Texas to start the second quarter allowed UT to cut ISU's lead to 13 (30-17) at the 7:33 mark. Iowa State would take a 19-point lead (42-23) into the locker room at the half.
Five straight points by the Longhorns allowed Texas to trim the Cyclone lead to 11 points (47-36) at the 5:06 mark of the third quarter. Sutton knocked down a floater in the waning seconds of the period, but the Longhorns would still trail by 14 (54-40) entering the final stanza.
Jatarie White finished a layup to pull Texas within single-digits (70-61) for the first time since the first quarter with 2:07 left. Williams forced a steal and knocked down a shot to cut the lead to seven (74-67) with 43 seconds left.
UT was unable to cut any further unto the deficit over the remainder of the game.

- The Longhorns used the starting lineup of Olamide Aborowa, Littleton, White, Sutton and Williams.
- Sutton scored a team-high 21 points, hitting 7-of-17 from the field, while also pulling down five rebounds and dishing out two assists. This marks the third time this season Sutton has scored 20 or more points in a game this season.
- Williams contributed 15 points and tied a career-high with nine rebounds, marking the third time this season Williams has pulled down nine rebounds in a game. Williams also tied a career-high with three steals.
- Holmes notched another solid performance, adding 13 points and 7 rebounds in just 22 minutes. This marks Holmes' 14th time scoring in double-figures this season.
- Littleton recorded a 10-point performance, connecting on 2-of-4 from three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. This marks the eighth time this season Littleton has knocked down two or more three-pointers in a game. It was also the 12thtime this season Littleton has scored in double-figures.
- UT's offense came alive during the fourth quarter when Texas rattled off 33 points, marking the highest scoring output in a quarter for the Longhorns all season.
- Texas had success getting to the rim as the Longhorns outscored Iowa State 32-18 in the paint.
