No. 2 Women's Golf tied for third after opening day of NCAA Norman Regional

NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 2 Texas women's golf team posted a one-under-par 287 on Monday and the Longhorns are currently tied for third after the opening day of the NCAA Norman Regional at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
No. 10 Florida currently leads the field with a four-under-par 284, while N.C. State is in second after recording a three-under-par 285. The Longhorns are three strokes off the team lead after the opening 18 holes. Texas is tied for third with Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas Tech at one-under-par [287].
As a team, the Longhorns totaled 63 pars – second-most among all teams in the field – and 10 birdies. The highlight of the day came on hole nine as freshman Sara Kouskova and sophomore Kaitlyn Papp impressively recorded back-to-back eagles from the fairway on the par-four hole.
The top-six teams from each of the four regionals advance to the 2019 NCAA Championship at Fayetteville, Ark.
A LOOK AT THE LINEUP
- Sophomore Agathe Laisne tied for 13th with a one-under-par 71. She tied for the best scoring average in the field on par-three holes Monday [2.50, -2]. For Laisne, it was her 13th round at par or better this season.
- Papp also is tied for 13th with a one-under-par 71. She led the Longhorns with 14 pars on the day and added a birdie and an eagle. It was Papp's 16th round this season at par or better, which ties for the team lead.
- Kouskova is tied for 24th with an even-par 72. She carded 13 pars, a birdie and an eagle on the day. It marked her 12th round this season at par or better.
- Freshman Hailee Cooper is tied for 34th with a one-over-par 73.
- Junior Emilee Hoffman is tied for 64th with a four-over-par 76.

The second round of the NCAA Norman Regional takes place on Tuesday at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. Tee times for the Longhorns begin at 9:20 a.m. CT.
