No. 2 Women's Golf surges into lead at NCAA Norman Regional

NORMAN, Okla. – Boosted by a seven-under-par team total of 281 on Tuesday, impressively including four birdies on the 18th hole, the No. 2 Texas women's golf team surged into the lead at the NCAA Norman Regional at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The Longhorns currently hold a one-stroke lead with an eight-under-par two-round total of 568 [287-281]. No. 10 Florida, which has led for much of the regional, is in second place with a seven-under-par 569 [284-285]. Purdue is third with a two-under-par 574 [289-285].
The top-six teams from each of the four NCAA Regional sites following Wednesday's final round advance to the 2019 NCAA Championship, set to take place May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
Texas' 281 tied for the 14th-best 18-hole team total in program history. Over the 36 holes that have been contested, the Longhorns lead the tournament field in par-five average [4.83, -7]. They have the second-most pars [129] of any team this week in Norman and the third-most birdies [24].
A LOOK AT THE LINEUP
- Sophomore Agathe Laisne is leading the way for the Longhorns with a five-under-par 139 [71-68] and is tied for third place in the individual standings. Her 68 on Tuesday marked her 14th round this season at par or better. It was also her seventh round in the 60s this year. Laisne is four strokes off the individual lead, held by Arizona State's Olivia Mehaffey [-9].
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Papp is tied for eighth with a three-under-par 141 [71-70]. Tuesday's round marked her team-leading 17th round this season at par or better. Papp had 14 pars and three birdies on Tuesday.
- Freshman Sara Kouskova is tied for 27th overall with a one-over-par 145 [72-73]. Kousková has totaled 28 pars on the week.
- Junior Emilee Hoffman turned in a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday and is tied for 29th place with a two-over-par 146 [76-70].
- Freshman Hailee Cooper is tied for 43rd with a four-over-par 148 [73-75].
UP NEXT
The final round of the NCAA Norman Regional takes place on Wednesday at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. Due to the threat of impending bad weather, the final round is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
