No. 3 Volleyball falls at Rice

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 3 Texas Volleyball team fell, 3-2; 25-22, 25-18, 13-25, 14-25, 15-13, to the hand of (RV) Rice in Houston on Wednesday evening in Tudor Fieldhouse.
Senior Micaya White and sophomore Logan Eggleston each put down 16 kills. White tied her season-high with 14 digs, putting together her fourth double-double of the season. Eggleston added five digs and three blocks on the evening.
Freshman Asjia O'Neal recorded a career-best nine kills, leading the team by hitting .500, adding four blocks. Skylar Fields, a Houston native, put down 12 kills and added four blocks.
Sophomore Sydney Petersen scooped up a career-best 25 digs, while fellow sophomore Jhenna Gabriel tallied 50 assists and added eight digs.
Texas returns to action on Friday, Sept. 20 to host Texas A&M at 7 p.m. in Gregory Gymnasium.
