NOTES
- Coming off a 23-5 record and an NCAA Regional Finals finish, Texas Volleyball enters the 2019 season at No. 4 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, and No. 1 in the Big 12 Preseason rankings.
- For head coach Jerritt Elliott's 19th season, the Longhorns return 2018 Big 12 Player of the Year and 2019 Preseason Player of the Year Micaya White and Big 12 Freshman of the Year Logan Eggleston, while bringing in 2019 Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Skylar Fields.
- Texas went without junior Ashley Shook and sophomore Brionne Butler in their opening weekend. The Longhorns went 2-0 against UNI, 3-1, and No. 14 USC to open the season. Against USC on Sunday, Sept. 1, Gregory Gym was sold out.
- Texas owns a 111-52 (.681) record against ranked opponents over the last 13+ seasons (2004-19) and a 52-12 (.813) mark against ranked opponents at Gregory Gym during that span.
- Texas moved up one spot in the AVCA Week 1 poll to No. 3 in the rankings.
- Last 40 on the 40 acres: Texas is 38-2 in its last 40 home matches, with the only losses being to Minnesota and Stanford, who are Texas' two opponents this week.
- Minnesota opened the season 1-1 on the year, topping North Carolina, 3-0, to open the season, but then followed with a 3-0 upset loss to unranked Florida State.
- NCAA.com named this matchup one of "six early matches to watch to start the 2019 season."
- Minnesota went 27-4 in 2018 and won the Big Ten Conference title (19-1).
- Minnesota returns six starters from last year's team, including seniors Alexis Hart and Taylor Morgan, juniors Regan Pittman and Stephanie Samedy, and sophomores CC McGraw and Adanna Rollins.
- The Gophers add six newcomers to the 2019 roster, while having to replace 2018 Big Ten Player of the Year, Big Ten Setter of the Year and First Team All-American Samantha Seliger-Swenson.
- This match marks the 10th all-time meeting between these two programs, with the Gophers holding a 5-4 advantage. The last time the teams faced off was Sept. 8, 2017.
