NOTES
- Coming off a 23-5 record and an NCAA Regional Finals finish, Texas Volleyball enters the 2019 season at No. 4 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, and No. 1 in the Big 12 Preseason rankings.
- For head coach Jerritt Elliott's 19th season, the Longhorns return 2018 Big 12 Player of the Year and 2019 Preseason Player of the Year Micaya White and Big 12 Freshman of the Year Logan Eggleston, while bringing in 2019 Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Skylar Fields.
- Texas went without junior Ashley Shook and sophomore Brionne Butler in their opening weekend. The Longhorns went 2-0 against UNI, 3-1, and No. 14 USC to open the season. Against USC on Sunday, Sept. 1, Gregory Gym was sold out.
- On Wednesday, Texas topped No. 8 Minnesota, 3-0: 25-22, 29-27, 35-33. In set three, Texas tied the match at 17. From that point in the match, the two teams combined for 17-tied scored and the Longhorns fought off nine set points, a run that ended on an Asjia O'Neal stuff block, giving Texas a 33-32 lead, and then the Longhorns closed out the match at 35-33 on back-to-back kills from White.
- Texas owns a 111-52 (.681) record against ranked opponents over the last 13+ seasons (2004-19) and a 52-12 (.813) mark against ranked opponents at Gregory Gym during that span.
- Texas moved up one spot in the AVCA Week 1 poll to No. 3 in the rankings.
- Last 40 on the 40 acres: Texas is 38-2 in its last 40 home matches, with the only losses being to Minnesota and Stanford, who are Texas' two opponents this week.
- Stanford leads the series with Texas, 20-7. The Cardinal won both meetings against the Longhorns in 2018 as the teams played a home-and-home.
- Texas' most recent victory over Stanford came on Sept. 8, 2013 in Austin (3-1). The Cardinal has opened the season 3-0 with sweeps over College of Charleston, Duke and No. 7 Florida. Dating back to 2016, Stanford's 36-match home winning streak is the longest in the nation. The Cardinal is a perfect 32-0 at Maples Pavilion under head coach Kevin Hambly - having dropped just 12 sets.
