A look back at Texas Volleyball’s 2019 Season

Texas’ 2019 season highlighted by record-setting attendance, and four-time All-American Micaya White’s senior campaign
Texas volleyball finished the 2019 season with a 23-4 record, and a 15-1 Big 12 record. They earned a share of the Big 12 Conference title.

Texas Volleyball set a home attendance record in 2019 with an average of 3,873 fans per match. The previous mark was 3,780 which was set in 2013 following the Longhorns’ 2012 National Championship.
The 3,873 is also a huge improvement from the 2018 season which saw an average of 3,313.
Gregory Gym sold out on eight occasions, including multiple matches that were sold out weeks in advance. The sell-outs were against USC, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Kansas, and Louisville.
Against Texas A&M, Gregory Gym saw 4,328 fans in attendance, the eighth most in Gregory’s current configuration.
As a team, Texas hit .325 on the season, leading the nation. The mark also sits tied for fourth best in Longhorn history, tying a percentage hit in 2012.
Brionne Butler led the Longhorns with a clip of .439, fellow middle Asjia O'Neal followed at .365. Freshman Skylar Fields hit .337, while outsides Logan Eggleston and Micaya White hit .314 and .301, respectively.

Micaya White finished her Texas career etched in the Longhorn record book as she sits sixth in career points (1,869.5) and kills (1,616), seventh in points per set (4.43), eighth in kills per set (3.83), and third in total attempts (4,257).
White also reached 1,000 career digs during the 2019 season, and finished her career with 1,014, joining an elite group of players to record at least 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.


Texas saw six players earn Big 12 post season honors. Micaya White, Brionne Butler, Logan Eggleston and Skylar Fields were all named unanimous first team selections. Jhenna Gabriel was a second team honoree, and Fields and Asjia O’Neal were named to the All-Freshman team.

Micaya White became the fourth Longhorn to earn a place on the top-three AVCA All-America teams four times (1st – 2016, 3rd – 2017, 2nd - 2018, 1st - 2019) when she was named a first team honoree in 2019. She is the fifth to earn four AVCA All-America honors in total (1st – HM).
Logan Eggleston picked up her second career All-America honor after going from an honorable mention selection following her freshman year to a second team honoree in 2019.
VolleyballMag.com named Micaya White, Brionne Butler, and Logan Eggleston All-America Second Team. They also named Skylar Fields to the All-Freshman Team and named Asjia O’Neal All-Freshman honorable mention

Micaya White became the fourth Longhorn Volleyball student-athlete to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American when she was named to the second team in 2019. She is now the highest honored for the award, with the three previous all being third team honorees.
White was also named one of ten Senior CLASS Award finalists.
Texas extended the Big 12 home winning streak to 43 straight matches after going 8-0 in conference play in Gregory in 2019.
Texas has registered a 97-34 (.746) all-time record in 36 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Longhorns rank fourth in NCAA Division I history in NCAA Tournament wins (98) and fourth in winning percentage (.746). UT also ranks seventh all-time in NCAA Tournament appearances (36). Texas advanced to 18-consecutive NCAA Tournaments (1982- 99) and is now on a streak of 16-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2004-19).
Dating back to the 1974 season, Texas has won .842 percent of its matches in Austin, sporting an overall record of 604-113-1. The Horns are even more successful in Gregory Gymnasium, boasting a winning percentage of .878 with a record of 423-60.
UT owns a 113-54 (.677) record against ranked opponents over the last 16 seasons (2004-19) and boasts a 54-12 (.818) mark against ranked opponents at Gregory Gymnasium during that span. In 2019, Texas went 4-2 against ranked opponents and 3-0 against them at home.
UT is one of two teams that has reached the NCAA Round of 16 fifteen times in the last 16 seasons. Penn State is the only other school to accomplish the feat.

The Longhorns signed five for 2020 – transfer Capri Davis, and incoming freshmen Reilly Heinrich, Nalani Iosia, Naomi Cabello, and Madison Williams.
