Kibler named Big 12 Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Junior posted the fastest time in the country this season in the 200-yard freestyle (1:30.57) with his leadoff leg during the 800-yard freestyle relay.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Swimming junior Drew Kibler has been named the Big 12 Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. This marked the second time this season that Kibler has earned the honor, as he previously claimed the accolade on Nov. 10.
During the four-day Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational, Kibler swam the leadoff leg on the winning 800-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:30.57. The relay team posted the seventh-fastest time in history and the best time ever outside of the NCAA Championship meet (6:07.34). Kibler's leadoff leg marked the fastest time in the nation in the 200-yard freestyle this season.
He returned to win the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:09.18, recording the second-fastest time this year in the country behind his own top time. Kibler also swam the leadoff leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:16.99) and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (41.92) while posting the second-fastest time in the nation this season.
Kibler and the No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming team return to the pool with a dual meet against TCU on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
