TEXAS HEAD COACH KAREN ASTON
"Just a really, really disappointing performance. As I said on the radio, I think the big struggle tonight was that we couldn't control anything on the defensive end which typically we are able to sustain - defensive effort - even when things are not going great on the offensive end. I mean, that's an obvious statement that our offense was a struggle tonight. It was a struggle to shoot the basketball. We turned the ball over too much early in the game, but as we went along I think we made better decisions but it didn't go in. We just couldn't control our effort and attention to detail on the defensive end. it snowballed on us pretty quickly. Iowa State did exactly what we thought they would do. They didn't do anything different. It was just a really disappointing performance."
IOWA STATE HEAD COACH BILL FENNELLY
"Our team has figured out that the only way for us to be successful is to compete at a level that gives us a chance. The aesthetics of the game weren't the best but the game plan for us was to try and pack it in and get as many bodies as possible. Fortunately for us, they missed some shots and we withstood the big run by them when they started pressing. Our kids are tough minded. Big, big win for us. Any time you beat a team the caliber of Texas and a Karen Aston-coached team, it's something to be proud of. We made sure that we didn't get swept so I'm pretty pleased with our effort."
