No. 7 Women’s Tennis falls to No. 9 Florida State, 4-3

Longhorns move into consolation bracket at ITA Indoor Championship and face Illinois on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
CHICAGO, Ill. — The No. 7 University of Texas women's tennis team dropped hard-fought 4-3 decision to No. 9 Florida State in the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) National Team Indoor Championship Round of 16 on Friday night at XS Tennis Village. The dual match, which lasted over three-and-a-half hours, came down to a dramatic three-set victory by FSU's No. 86 Nandini Das over freshman Adri Nagy.
The Longhorns fall to 4-1 on the season and drop into the consolation bracket at the 16-team tournament. Texas will face host Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. CT. Florida State improves to 6-0 on the year and advances to the ITA Indoor quarterfinals.
The Seminoles took an early 1-0 advantage after rallying to claim the doubles point. Senior twin sisters Anna Turati and Bianca Turati jumped out to a 4-0 lead and cruised to an impressive 6-2 win against the No. 15 duo of Victoria Allen and Petra Hule on court 1. Nagy and sophomore Tijana Spasojevic held a 5-4 lead, but FSU's pair of Sasha Hill and Emmanuelle Salas won three consecutive games to record a 7-5 victory on court 3. FSU's Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia clinched the point by fighting back from down 2-4 to post a 7-5 win on court 2 against junior Fernanda Labraña and sophomore Marta Perez Mur.
Allen gave the Seminoles a 2-0 cushion with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Spasojevic at fifth singles. No. 2 Anna Turati got the Longhorns on the board with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win against Hule at second singles, and No. 42 Bianca Turati followed by winning 11 of the last 12 games en route to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Salas at first singles to even the dual-match score at 2-2.
Perez Mur dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Garcia at sixth singles to give Florida State a 3-2 advantage. No. 125 Labraña tied the match at 3-3 with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 victory against Hill at fourth singles. Labraña trailed 4-5 in the opening set and 2-4 in the opening-set tiebreaker, but she rallied to win the final five points of the breaker and cruised to the victory without dropping a game in the second set.
In the decisive match at third singles between Nagy and No. 86 Das, Nagy held a slim 4-3 lead in the first-set tiebreaker before Das rallied to win four-consecutive points to claim the breaker, 7-4. Nagy then jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set, but Das won three-straight games to pull even at 3-3. Nagy answered by winning the next three games to close out the second set and even the match.
Das built a 4-2 cushion in the third set, but Nagy broke Das and then held her own serve to pull even at 4-4. Das held serve on a deuce point to take a 5-4 lead. Serving to stay in the match, Nagy rallied from down 15-40 to force a deuce point, but Das claimed the match point and clinched the dual-match victory for the Seminoles.
